Sweetheart Butter Cookies
Sometimes you just need a little something sweet for your sweetie. What better way than some darling and festive cookies redolent with butter? We used some cute little heart-shaped cookie cutters, but you can also shape into rounds by hand.

Recipe Yield 24 Sweetheart Cookies
- Gather your ingredients.
- Preheat oven to 325F.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together with an electric mixer until fluffy. Add the salt, vanilla, and egg yolks and beat until well mixed. Incorporate the flour slowly, switching to mixing by hand if the electric mixer gets uncooperative.
- Sprinkle some flour onto a cutting board or clean countertop. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough to about 1/4″ thickness.
- Cut the dough into the desired shapes using a cookie cutter. (You can also roll the dough into walnut-sized balls and flatten into discs.)
- Sprinkle the sprinkles on top and bake in the oven for 10 – 12 minutes, or until the bottoms and edges are golden brown. Let cool on the baking sheets for 10 minutes, then transfer to cooling racks until the cookies have solidified enough to nom.
